"Trump Was Not Just Spied Upon, It Was Entrapment"

https://ift.tt/2TKYcuD I don't mean the entrapment of promulgating the salacious Steele dossier both to the public and the FISA court as if it were the truth. That was more of a smear to justify a phony investigation. I mean something more subtle and LeCarré-like coming from the depths of our intelligence communities. It raises once more the question of the power of such agencies in a free society, a conundrum with no easy answers but of great significance to our lives. For all his New York rough-and-tumble, Trump was an innocent abroad when he arrived in Washington. Way back in January 2017, he was warned by old-timer Chuck Schumer that "intel officials have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you." The Senate minority leader--Deep Stater par excellence--knew whereof he spoke. But Trump somehow survived the storm, although sometimes it seemed as if he wouldn't. Now, some of the obvious parties --John K. Brennan and James Clapper with their apparatchik miens -- ha

U.S. Marshals Service employee arrested for felony drug charge

https://ift.tt/2uEa07X A United States Marshals Service employee was arrested Saturday morning for a felony drug charge. Reynaldo Chavera II, 31, faces a charge for possession of a controlled substance. Deputy U.S. Marshal Christopher Bozeman said Chavera is an employee of the U.S. Marshals Service, but he did not name his title with the agency. "We are aware of allegations of the arrest of a U.S. Marshals Service employee by the San Antonio Police Department in the early morning hours on Saturday," Bozeman said. "The U.S. Marshals Service takes seriously any allegation of misconduct by its employees which do not reflect our core values of justice, integrity and service. Any information on the alleged arrest will be provided by the arresting agency."

Researchers Exploit a Secret Feature in Intel Chipsets

https://ift.tt/2HVZukc Security researchers have discovered a previously unknown feature in the Intel chipsets, which could allow an attacker to intercept data from the computer memory. The feature called Intel Visualization of Internal Signals Architecture (Intel VISA) is said to be a utility that is bundled by the chipmaker for testing on the manufacturing lines. Although Intel doesn't publicly disclose the existence of Intel VISA and is extremely secretive about it, the researchers were able to find several ways to enable the feature on the Intel chipsets and capture the data from the CPU. As a per presentation made by the researchers Mark Ermolov and Maxim Goryachy of Positive Technologies at the ongoing Blackhat Asia 2019 conference in Singapore, their exploits of the Intel chipsets don't require any hardware modifications or special equipment. One of the techniques shared by the researchers involved vulnerabilities detailed in Intel-SA-00086 advisory that give access to I

Man accused of transporting girls across state lines for sex

https://ift.tt/2HZPeYc A 36-year-old man has been indicted after allegedly crossing state lines with two underage females with the intent to have sex with them. Cleveland Lee Crumsey was indicted on two counts by a grand jury, according to court documents filed March 29. The charges are specifically "coercion or enticement of minor female." Crumsey reportedly transported two teenagers — one born in 2002 and the other in 2001 — with the purpose of engaging in sexual activity in January from Greene County to an undisclosed location, court documents stated. This is a criminal offense, specifically under the laws of Missouri and Iowa, the documents say. Documents say Crumsey is currently in state custody, but he does not appear to be in the Greene County Jail. If convicted of the felonies, Crumsey could face at least 10 years in prison, up to life, and up to a $250,000 fine.

2 Pilots Killed in Marine Helicopter Crash in Arizona

https://ift.tt/2uzWUbK U.S. Marine Corps officials are investigating after two pilots died in a helicopter crash during a training mission in southwestern Arizona. A statement from the Marine Corps Air Station says the crash of the AH-1Z Viper occurred at about 8:45 p.m. Saturday. A spokesman for the station says the crash occurred on the vast Marine Corps Air Station Yuma training grounds. Capt. Gabriel Adibe says no additional information is immediately available. The names of the pilots who were killed have not been released pending notification of their families. The station is located about 2 miles from Yuma and the 1,300 square mile training ground is one of the world's largest military installations. © Copyright 2019 The Associated Press. Honours system under scrutiny after sex abuser kept title for years

https://ift.tt/2uCyvCt Lawyers have called for an overhaul of the honours forfeiture system after it emerged that a sex abuser retained an honour bestowed for services to the Queen some three years after a court recognised him as a paedophile. The system is too slow to acknowledge an offender’s offences, say lawyers specialising in abuse claims, and, in the case of those who have died, cannot strip them of their honours, leaving victims feeling that they have been cheated of justice. Hubert Chesshyre, 78, an expert on heraldry and genealogy, held a number of senior positions within the royal household, rising to become secretary of the most noble order of the garter, the highest order in British chivalry. Among the many honours bestowed upon him over more than 40 years were the Queen’s Silver and Golden Jubilee Medals, and the commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) – the latter for distinguished personal service to the monarch. Duke University pays $112M to settle faked-research lawsuit

https://ift.tt/2OEu3fx Duke University will pay $112 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit after federal prosecutors said a research technician's fake data landed millions of dollars in federal grants, the school and the government said Monday. The private university in Durham submitted claims for dozens of research grants that contained falsified or fabricated information that unjustly drained taxpayer money from the National Institutes of Health, the Environmental Protection Agency and other federal agencies, the U.S. Justice Department said. The school said it is repaying grant money and related penalties. "Taxpayers expect and deserve that federal grant dollars will be used efficiently and honestly," local U.S. Attorney Matthew G.T. Martin said in a statement. "May this serve as a lesson that the use of false or fabricated data in grant applications or reports is completely unacceptable." The lawsuit was first filed in 2015 by whistleblower and former Du

SF Public Defender Jeff Adachi dies

https://ift.tt/2tzDkvC San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi, a renowned advocate for the accused and an outspoken watchdog on police misconduct, has died. He was 59. Mayor London Breed confirmed Friday night that Adachi had died, saying that San Francisco had “lost a dedicated public servant.” He was the only elected public defender in California. The exact circumstances and cause of Adachi’s death were not immediately known, but sources said he died of a heart attack. “As one of the few elected public defenders in our country, Jeff always stood up for those who didn’t have a voice, have been ignored and overlooked, and who needed a real champion,” Breed said in a statement. “He was committed not only to the fight for justice in the courtroom, but he was also a relentless advocate for criminal justice reform. “Jeff led the way on progressive policy reforms, including reducing recidivism, ending cash bail, and standing up for undocumented and unrepresented children.” Related Storie

If Mueller Knew Early On That Trump Did Not Collude With Russia, Why Did The Investigation Take So Long?

https://ift.tt/2YFIULd When did Robert Mueller know that President Trump did not collude with the Russians? Depending upon whom you ask, the answers range from immediately to December 2017, at the very latest. The Last Refuge’s Sundance offers one of the more interesting takes on the Russia collusion story. He discusses what he believes the FBI, Rod Rosenstein, Robert Mueller, his investigators and all the others were trying to accomplish. Although it is lengthy, and I’ll be summarizing it here, the entire article is fascinating and well worth the read. Sundance believes “all the characters knew there was no Russian collusion/conspiracy, ever. They knew the narrative was created; they participated in the creation; the Russian conspiracy narrative was a necessary element toward the goal of eliminating Trump.” He points to Peter Strzok’s text message to Lisa Page which has now become familiar to anyone who has followed this story. This message was sent on May 19, 2017 which was two days

Fremont priest arrested, accused of 30 counts of felony child abuse

https://ift.tt/2I1KktH The head priest of the Corpus Christi Parish in Fremont has been arrested on suspicion of 30 counts of child sex abuse, officials said Sunday. The Rev. Hector David Mendoza-Vela, 42, was arrested Thursday and booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, where he is awaiting an arraignment in Alameda County Superior Court. His bail was set at $900,000. The abuse happened over an 18-month period in 2016 and 2017 and involved a child who was 14 and 15 at the time, according to Sgt. Ray Kelly, a spokesman for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, which investigated the case. The victim’s family “met Father Vela through his work as their Catholic priest and became friends of his like a lot of people do with leaders in the community,” Kelly said. The abuse, described only as “lewd and lascivious acts,” happened at the victim’s Hayward home and in other locations, Kelly said. He did not provide further details on the victim or the acts. Carter Page: I Experienced The Trump-Russia Witch Hunt First Hand, Now We're Getting The Real Truth

https://ift.tt/2V7r8yp "Full Measure" host Sharyl Attkisson interviews Carter Page, a central figure in the alleged Trump-Russia conspiracy, about how the government investigated him as a spy for Russia. Transcript via "Full Measure": SHARYL ATTKISSON: At the very beginning of the Trump-Russia story, there was Carter Page. During the 2016 presidential campaign, the US intelligence community portrayed him as a 'hot lead.’ A spy. The main link to collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. In the end, Special Counsel Robert Mueller didn’t charge Carter Page with anything. Today, Page speaks with us and reveals incredible details that may make you question much of what the American public was told over the past two years. A good beginning for the story of Carter Page is June 16, 2015. CARTER PAGE: I think President Trump, then-candidate Trump, from the moment he came down the escalator in the middle of 2015, had a great vision for the direction that the world

UCLA sued for hiding public records on disruption of Trump official's speech - The College Fix

https://ift.tt/2Ox4ihg It’s been doing the same thing to student newspaper for years UCLA is required by state law to turn over “disclosable” public records within 10 days of request. In “unusual circumstances” it can tack on another two weeks, to the extent “reasonably necessary” to process requests. The taxpayer-funded government institution is more than a year late on its legal obligations in response to one request. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education sued UCLA in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday for giving itself five extensions over the 391 days since FIRE filed a public-records request. The education civil-liberties group is seeking records “related to a campus speaking appearance” by Steven Mnuchin, U.S. treasury secretary, which was marred by disruptive student-led protests. Some arrests were made, though none were students. Its interest was piqued after The Wall Street Journal reported that Mnuchin had “retracted his permission” from UCLA to share a video of

Sen. Lindsey Graham: We Are Calling in All of The Officials Who Signed Carter Page FISA Warrant to Testify (VIDEO)

https://ift.tt/2HMqq6E Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, joined Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures to discuss the Mueller Report and upcoming senate investigations and hearings. Senator Graham said he was going to call in all of the officials who signed the controversial Carter Page FISA warrants. Former FBI Director James Comey, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, former Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, and former Attorney General Sally Yates were all required to sign off on the FISC warrant application before it was reviewed and ultimately approved. Senator Graham said he is going to investigate how the DOJ could use a document to spy on Trump officials that has not been certified to this day. Senator Graham: I know Bill Barr and he’s pretty upset about how all of this was handled… I hope there is a special counsel appointed to look at DOJ corruption and political bias… I think it’s important to understand that politica

Holmdel priest ousted after sex abuse allegation; parishioners react

https://ift.tt/2V4jQLH A longtime St. Catharine's parishioner said he was "shocked" when he learned one of the church's priests was removed abruptly after the Diocese of Trenton announced a "credible" allegation of child sex abuse against him on Saturday. DA: Man kills himself before child sex-abuse trial

https://ift.tt/2U5OurM Officials say a California man set to stand trial for child sex-abuse charges killed himself before jury selection. The Press Democrat reports Mendocino County district attorney's office spokesman Mike Geniella says 51-year-old Aaron Douglas Burrows, who was facing a felony charge of criminal sexual penetration of a 9-year-old, killed himself Monday. Geniella says Burrows failed to show up in court Monday morning for the start of jury selection. Butte County law enforcement found Burrows and determined he took his own life sometime Sunday night or early Monday. Geniella says Burrows was charged with the crime for an incident that was reported following a camping trip to Fort Bragg, and a subsequent investigation uncovered a prior alleged victim of Burrows who was going to testify at the trial.

Biden accuser: I want him to acknowledge that what he did was wrong

https://ift.tt/2K3uwsW Yeah, that’s not going to happen. The Biden apology tour isn’t about genuine remorse, needless to say, it’s about making left-wingers feel more comfortable voting for him. Insofar as admitting to a mistake serves that goal, he’s happy to do it. Sure, he shouldn’t have written the 1994 crime bill; right, he should have sided more aggressively with Anita Hill at Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearing. Yes indeed, he should have supported the right to abortion up to the moment of crowning. He wasn’t as woke as he should have been but he is now — and really, which right-thinking progressive couldn’t say the same of their own past? Barack Obama got elected president opposing gay marriage, remember. SEE ALSO: Is Biden apologizing his way out of the nomination? Lefties (some lefties) who like Biden will roll with that, seeing it as his attempt to meet them halfway on points of contention. Senator Offers Amendment to Reveal Obama's Role in Probing Trump Campaign

https://ift.tt/2HVxWfR Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) offered an amendment on March 28, which, if approved, would reveal what role former President Barack Obama played in the investigation of the Trump campaign and the use of the debunked Steele dossier. Paul’s amendment would modify a resolution, which calls on the attorney general to release the full report by special counsel Robert Mueller to Congress and the public. The resolution passed the House by a vote of 420-0 on March 14 and is now before the Senate. “What we need to discover, and we do not yet know, was President Obama involved? Was this done for partisan purposes? Was this done to try to elect Hillary Clinton?” Paul asked on the Senate floor. According to a summary of Mueller’s final report released by Attorney General William Barr, the special counsel did not find any evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Mueller’s finding raises questions about the origins of the investigation of the Trump campaign and sug

Trey Gowdy: CIA May Stop Giving Adam Schiff Information Because He Leaks 'Like A Screen Door On A Submarine'

https://ift.tt/2FOg8kw Former Republican South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy predicted Sunday that the U.S. intelligence community might stop providing information to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff because he leaks “like a screen door on a submarine.” Gowdy was asked to weigh in on Republicans’ decision Thursday to call on Schiff to step down as chairman of the House panel. (RELATED: House Intel Republicans Call On Adam Schiff To Step Down As Chairman) “Never seen that before,” said Gowdy, who served on the intelligence panel before leaving Congress in January. “We never voted to remove or ask a chairperson to step down.” “Adam is a deeply partisan person. He did everything he could to make sure Hillary Clinton became president. And he’s done everything he could to keep a cloud over the Trump presidency,” Gowdy said of Schiff. North Korea "watching FBI rumors" in Madrid embassy "terrorist attack"

https://ift.tt/2JVKjtV North Korea said Sunday it's watching closely rumors the FBI played a role in what it called a "grave terrorist attack" at its embassy in Madrid, according to the state-run KCNA news agency. Chicago Isn't the Only Town With a Problem in the Office of Its Chief Prosecutor

https://ift.tt/2FBTmuG Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx has garnered a bevy of headlines this past week over the decision of her office to drop the charges against Jussie Smollett, her recusal/non-recusal, the intentional/inadvertent sealing of the proceedings, etc. As my colleague, Bonchie, detailed yesterday, even the Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association is none too impressed with her actions surrounding this case. But just in case Chicago was feeling singled-out by all these shenanigans, St. Louis is stepping up in solidarity. No, this isn’t about how some St. Louisans choose to slice their bagels. (As a native St. Louisan — and even a regular customer of Panera – which started out here as St. Louis Bread Co. — I can honestly say I’d never encountered this practice before Thursday. I’m now told by some friends this is their preferred method of delivery. I remain skeptical and still maintain this isn’t actually “a thing”.) This is about the office of St. Louis Circuit Attorney,

President Trump Intervenes on Behalf of Decorated US Navy SEAL Charged With 'Premeditated Murder' of ISIS Terrorist

https://ift.tt/2YyGvCl On Saturday, President Trump intervened on behalf of decorated US Navy SEAL, Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, who is awaiting trial for ‘premeditated murder’ of an ISIS terrorist. US Navy prosecutors accused Gallagher of premeditated murder over the stabbing of an injured 15-year-old ISIS terrorist in Mosul, Iraq in May of 2017. Even worse, Gallagher was arrested on ‘Patriot’s Day,’ September 11th, 2018 — he was shackled and thrown into solitary confinement while remaining shackled for 72 hours, and he’s being held at Miramar Brig in San Diego, California. The SEAL was also charged with aggravated assault for allegedly shooting Iraqi civilians. Gallagher has denied the charges and his lawyer is confident his client will be acquitted. Former Chinese Internet Chief Sentenced to 14 Years for Corruption

https://ift.tt/2JUUAqf A Chinese court on March 26 jailed the former chief internet regulator, Lu Wei, for 14 years, having found the once influential official guilty of taking bribes worth almost $5 million. Lu, one of numerous senior officials caught up in Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s sweeping anti-graft campaign, had already been expelled from the ruling Communist Party, which tightly controls the courts. At the height of his influence, Lu, a colorful and often brash official by Chinese standards, was seen as emblematic of pervasive internet controls, although his downfall has not brought a reversal of those policies. The court, in the eastern city of Ningbo, said in a statement that Lu had accepted the verdict and would not appeal. Lu, 59, pleaded guilty in October after prosecutors had accused him of abusing his power in various government posts over 15 years, including as the head of the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC). Between 2002 and 2017, he received illicit assets fr
